The Global Chemicals Outlook II is an UN-report containing a comprehensive overview of issues related to the sound management of chemicals. It assesses the status of health, environmental, economic and institutional factors related to the production, distribution, use and disposal of chemicals and waste. A zero draft of the Global Chemicals Outlook-II has been developed by June 2018, with chapters on global trends, progress towards sound chemicals management, instruments, policies and options for action.
ICTA participated in a workshop last month in Bonn, Germany. The objective of the workshop was to review the emerging content of the zero draft of the
report. During the workshop ICTA secretary Willem van Lanschot explained the role of the chemical distribution industry as enabler of chemical supply chains. He also stressed the importance of value chain responsibility and the GHS, both in the break-out groups and the plenary. The finalized GCO-II is scheduled to be available by the end of 2018.
